Teen Self-Portrait Series
This series of three unique works transforms personal history into portraiture, capturing the essence of my teenage years within the Dutch school system. Each piece (130 cm x 200 cm) is a self-portrait created from silk, hand printing, handwriting, and scanned documents—fragments of school life, personal notes, and official records. The layering of these elements forms a visual and emotional representation of adolescence, where identity is shaped by both personal experiences and institutional frameworks. The use of silk symbolizes the contrast between vulnerability and strength, while the handmade details introduce a deeply personal, tactile quality to each portrait. (2023)
